Through Time, Denial, Organ, and Rebirth [01 Jun 2006|09:10am]

zelbic
Well after the craziness of moving and unpacking I've been given sometime to work on the album again. I've created four new songs on top of the three I've already made. In Denial took me a total of 3 hours to make and it's the second actual completed song after The Melody. The Melody is reminding me more and more of "Dangerzone" except for it's much more toned down and the ending is better. In Denial is very loopyish and by that I mean like repetitive, and normally I'd hate repetitive songs but this one just makes me want to dance.

Day 3 is about halfway done and it's probably the most original song in the mix so far. It reminds me off a song in Zelda: A Link to the Past with the flute and I would like to note that I didn't do it on purpose. It's got a great beat and a great build-up. I'm thinking this could be the first track on the CD. That or The Melody being the first song.

The organ is a song I started a song that I lost direction for so I was thinking about scrapping it. Instead I created a sweet ending for it and made it into a short interlude type song. Rebirth Days so far is just a synth melody that reminds me much of back in my rebirth days, thus the title. Through time is also just about completed. I started out with a simple guitar rift and moved it into a rockish/electronica piece. It's sweet.

Song List (In order of conception)
---------
01. The Melody
02. Day 3
03. Inhibition
04. Through Time
05. In Denial
06. The Organ Interlude
07. Rebirth Days

Rude Awakening is now The Awakening [16 May 2006|12:52pm]

zelbic
Holy cow, so anyways I was doing my regular recording sessions and checking my Rude Awakening mail and stuff. I see a message on myspace from some random guy named Robert Ryder titled "THIS IS AN OFFICAL NOTICE". The message said the following:

TO REMOVE THIS SITE. RUDE AWAKENING IS A TRADEMARKED NAME AND HAS BEEN FOR TWENTY YEARS. YOU WILL RECEIVE CEASE AND DESIST NOTICES FROM OUR ATTORNEY, DEAN SERWIN IF YOU DO NOT CHANGE THE NAME OF YOUR BAND IMMEDIATELY. WE WILL BE IN TOUCH WITH YOU AND YOUR SERVER, VENUES AND ALL CONTACTS POSSIBLE. THIS IS AN OFFICIAL NOTICE. RESPOND WITH YOUR PLANS IMMEDIATELY!

ROBERT RYDER
RUDE AWAKENING

As you can see as a 21 year old college student that I could really provide some major damages to a 80's rock band (I knew there was a reason why I hated 80's music). So I conferred with my offical Rude Awakening -- The Electronica Project lawyers and after some careful research found out that this band really does exsist and really did suck. Needless to say "Rude Awakening" is now called "The Awakening". We will continue to stick it to the man and bring you the best underground electronic music ever. Here was my response to Robert Ryder or as I like to call him "Mr. Rude".

"I appologize I was not aware of your band. However next time just a simple "hello we've already got this name" would do. It's not like you have to worry about me confusing a bunch of people. I'm a 21 year old college student for cryin' out loud."

The New Album [13 May 2006|02:17am]

So those of you who haven't been keeping up with myspace, Rude Awakening is working on a new album. I began a few weeks ago and despite computer problems and finishing up the semester I've already finished two songs.

The first song started out as a simple melody that I made trying to recreate an 80's sounding Synth Machine emulated by Malstrom on Reason 3.0. Then I put this kind of cool beat to it and then a fade in intro. It kind of reminds me of my begining days when I was still working with Rebirth except it has a lot more depth to it. Thus the songs working title is called "The Melody".

On the third day that I began working on my new stuff I started with a concept idea to just have a complete classical sounding song. Nothing but emulated orchestra instruments and it sounded good at first but then I forgot about it for a few weeks. When I began working on it again I decided to put a big build up to it and now it's a fast moving classical/electronic masterpiece. I really like this song and may just be the first single.

The Melody
Day 3

Update 2 [15 Mar 2005|09:12am]

zelbic
Well friends, I sold two more copies of "Forever a Dream" today. I was talking to two people in the computer lab about electronica music and then I told them about my stuff. I had them play my single on Garageband.com and they decided to buy the album.

And I talked to Steve Adair and he said that he said that my song hasn't gotten enough reviews to be on their compilation album. I finally started working on a remix that Tom gave me from so long ago. It's been going slow but I may have something here soon.

I have offically decided for the next album I am scrapping the Zelda idea. I am not good at copying video game music and making it into a full length song. I like playing with my own sounds ideas to make something. I have been attempting and think I soon maybe be able to release a Zelda song. But it may be the only song I do.

Seriously guys, I need my fans, or people that do know about me to spread the word. It's not easy doing everything on my own. kthx

Well still haven't heard anything back from Steve Adair at Garageband.com again but the possibilty of maybe showing up on a Garageband.com compilation CD still isn't out of the spectrum. However with the run around I've been getting, it's looking not likely. I spoke with my cousin Matt from Pittsburg via email and he's got a few connections with people that make electronic CDs. We are possibly working on actually getting my CD released more professionally, as in getting CDs with real labels on them and CD cases.

Forever a Dream has currently sold a total of 22 copies now. This is NOT including the copies I gave to Alex, Stacey, and Ashlee. Remember to get the word out about Rude Awakening!

An update on the next Rude Awakening project. I have decided against doing a Zelda themed CD because of copyright laws dealing with the music of Zelda. If I were to do anything, I would maybe ask for permission from Nintendo to make one song and put it up as a promotion.

For now I think I am going to relax with the music making for now and do some massive "Forever a Dream" promotion. If any of you are interested in helping with that project, please let me know so I can work with you to give you some ideas on how to do so.

Thanks for your continued support.

Testing things out [16 Feb 2005|02:53pm]

Yeah well here we are, a community for my interested Rude Awakening fans to come together. Hurray. More will follow obviously. As of right now I am currently in the works to do some mass publicity for "Forever a Dream". At least push the single out. I think I am going to Vertigo possibly Thursday to talk to the guy about having him play my CD. That'd be nice.

For those of you who I talk to online and you come across this, if you are interested in purchasing a CD it is 3 dollars right now. I will be setting up a paypal system here pretty soon.
